Today her company trades parts internationally, and has a number of major contracts for motorcycle dismantling.
Helen’s passion for diversity issues is borne from her own experiences of being a female business-owner in a sector which is dominated by men. She strongly believes that no-one should be prevented from succeeding in businesses as a result of their gender, race, sexuality or disability.
She have always worked in typically male dominated industries, and loves being able to promote a positive and successful female image to work colleagues. Previously Helen worked in Continuous Improvement in a large multinational building company. Now she own and run Recycle Scooters Ltd and is the only woman in Wales to own a motorcycle salvage company.
Helen achieved her success by finding a gap in the market, developing a niche, never competing solely on price and most importantly believe in herself. If
She is relishing her new role working with other small business-owners within FSB to further the diversity agenda. In addition to running her business Helen is also a part-time lecturer at the University of South Wales Business School and a Big Ideas role model as part of a Welsh Government scheme to encourage entrepreneurship among young people.
