Biography

Maureen  has worked within the procurement department of Birmingham City Council (BCC) for over 20 years. Now, as Policy Implementation Manager  within Corporate Procurement, she manages the council’s supplier portal FinditinBirmingham and the implementation of the Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility (Charter).

BCC works to improve the economic, social and environmental well-being of its communities by delivering social value through its commissioning and procurement process. The Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility (the Charter) is a set of guiding principles which the Council follows and invites all organisations to adopt to manage how they deliver social value.

It is a compulsory requirement of BCC that all contractors including grant recipients sign up to the Charter (subject to contract/grant value), however any organisation can sign up to the Charter voluntarily.

With over 33,000 members, Finditinbirmingham is BCC’s supplier portal where council procurement opportunities are advertised.  But more than that Finditinbirmingham also advertises the procurement opportunities of our contractors, partner organisations and other members of the Finditinbirmingham network, opening up access to a wider market place to small and medium size local businesses and Social Enterprises.  This has resulted in over £3.6 billion pounds worth of public and private sector opportunities being posted on the website since its launch in 2010
