The grant programmes being showcased at SME2017 will include:
Business Growth Programme
This programme is aimed at existing B2B SMEs ready to invest, grow and create jobs.
Funding is available through the BGP, which is managed by Birmingham City Council and part-funded through the European Regional Development Fund. Grants funding is available between £10k and £167k* to support SME expansion projects.
BGP consists of four key strands of support:
1.The HS2 Supply Chain Programme, offering grants of £20,000 – £167,000* for supply chain companies which have, or are in the process of securing, or are preparing their company to be able to secure a contract for HS2.
2.The Green Bridge Supply Chain Programme, offering grants of £20,000 to £150,000 to growing supply chain companies who can demonstrate quantifiable green benefits (i.e., energy efficiency, waste management, recycling and renewables).
3.The Business Innovation Programme, offering grants of £10,000 – £30,000 for businesses investing in innovative “close-to-market” products and services.
4.The Business Development Programme, offering grants of £10,000 – £20,000 for businesses looking to expand, relocate and improve access to markets.
Property Investment Programme
This grant is designed to help businesses to improve their commercial premises by providing financial support towards the cost of building improvement works. The primary purpose of the scheme is to increase and/or improve business accommodation and to help create new employment opportunities. Funding is targeted at eligible SMEs located in the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership area, and delivering activities within manufacturing and processing, office uses, business-to-business activities.
Grants will be payable at up to 40% of eligible project development costs, subject to a maximum of €200,000. Both programmes are funded by the European Regional Development Fund

Business Support Programme
Coventry & Warwickshire businesses are encouraged to apply for the Investment Fund grant under the Business Support Programme funded through the European Regional Development Fund.
Applications are welcomed from all sectors except retail and are available to established and new startup businesses needing financial assistance.
SMEs with fewer than 250 employees are encouraged to apply for the fund; in particular companies looking to purchase capital assets such as machinery or equipment, or looking to move to new premises – benefiting from up to 30% of grant to cover the costs of the investment.
The investment must create jobs in the region and the grant will not need to be repaid. Depending on the value of your investment you may qualify for grants from £1,000 to £50,000.
The Coventry & Warwickshire Innovation Programme offers grants of up to £50k to support SMEs to develop and test new to the market products, services and technologies. Grants are available to support:
Revenue expenditure – these can cover the costs of innovation advisory or support services from a university/knowledge institution; or obtaining, validating and defending patents/copyrights for a new product.
Capital expenditure – these can cover the costs of new assets (e.g. equipment, premises) to support the development and/or testing of the product, service or technology.
Green Business Programme
The Coventry & Warwickshire Green Business Programme is an EU funded programme that assists SMEs to become more energy efficient and to unlock market opportunities in the low carbon sector.
Eligible businesses can access up to £50,000 of financial assistance and also free business support via one of the following:
-a free energy assessment
-up to 30% grant funding towards energy saving improvements
-up to 30% towards capital costs for low carbon innovation projects
-40% towards revenue costs for low carbon innovation projects
-free workshops and accredited courses on low carbon construction
